The Brief:
The Meetings Show has become the must-attend event for the UK’s inbound and outbound meetings industry, combining a proven hosted buyer programme, unrivalled education sessions and numerous daytime and evening networking opportunities. As a headline partner of The Meetings Show Lime Venue Portfolio, which manages a collection of unusual, sporting and cultural venues throughout the UK and Ireland, hosted a reception and networking event at Dartmouth House on the evening prior to the launch of the show. This was an opportunity for Lime Venue Portfolio to showcase one of their flagship venues to potential clients whilst also using the services of their suppliers – of which Wildgoose is one – to help make the event memorable, fun, engaging and provide guests with the opportunity to network.
The Solution:
Wildgoose was engaged by Lime Venue Portfolio to create a bespoke challenge to take place around the venue of Dartmouth House, a large and luxurious Georgian house in the heart of London’s Mayfair district. Lime Venue Portfolio’s event guests were a mixture of buyers and suppliers who would be attending The Meetings Show the following day. Designed to showcase the venue Wildgoose devised a tablet-based indoor treasure hunt. Taken on a journey around the venue guests were required to unlock and complete a variety of tasks and challenges along the way while exploring the numerous conference and meeting rooms including The Churchill Room and the Long Drawing Room.
Knowing that many of the people at the event wouldn’t know each other, the game was crafted with the intention of encouraging guests to mingle, network and interact as they played. The questions and tasks along with photo and video challenges were developed to incorporate content about other suppliers who were present, which meant that guests had to seek answers from other guests who might be in the know, providing a great opportunity to spark a conversation and earn precious points!
The Results:
The Wildgoose tablet-based game at Dartmouth House provided a unique, fun and engaging activity for Lime Venue Portfolio to successfully promote their venue, encouraging suppliers and buyers to network while also bringing out their competitive side. As a method of showcasing Dartmouth House instead of what could have just been a house tour, the game encouraged everyone to visit the house and its facilities from top to bottom, whilst educating the guests on the best and most important highlights of the venue. The prizes provided were an added incentive and a good way to finish the game at the end of the event.
