Event date: 2 July 2026
Andrea needed a team activity that could run inside a 90-minute break in a conference day at West Midlands Safari Park, for a 170-strong group of all ages and abilities.
The Brief
Andrea Marston, Marketing Manager at Barratt & David Wilson Homes Mercia, was planning the conference day and wanted an activity that could run alongside it. Her brief needed to:
- Fit around the group’s existing conference schedule at the Tree Top Pavilions, in a short afternoon window of around 90 minutes
- Suit attendees of all ages and abilities, ruling out anything too physically demanding
- Combine indoor and outdoor elements within easy walking distance of the conference room, to stay weather-resilient
- Work for a large group of 170 colleagues without becoming unwieldy
- Be simple to sign off internally - the initial concept needed to go to Andrea’s MD before anything was booked
Andrea found Wildgoose after searching for team activity providers online, and was reassured to hear that other divisions within Barratt Redrow had used Wildgoose for events previously.
The Solution: The Amazing Chase
Wildgoose delivered The Amazing Chase, our Race Across the World-inspired GPS outdoor challenge, configured specifically for the safari park grounds. After an initial call to talk through options, including the indoor Level Up format, Andrea chose an outdoor GPS treasure hunt that let the group make use of the space around the Tree Top Pavilions.
Key delivery details:
- Date & time: Thursday 2 July 2026, running as a 90-minute activity (shortened from the standard 2 hours to fit the conference schedule)
- Format: In-person, outdoor GPS environment with a remote host briefing and wrap-up
- Location: West Midlands Safari Park, based around the Tree Top Pavilions
- Group size: 170 participants, split into competitive teams
- Booking: Set up with invoice billing so Andrea could route payment through her accounts team rather than a personal card
The option to upgrade to the full 2-hour activity and an onsite host was left open should the group want it once onsite logistics were confirmed.
The Result
The event took place as planned on 2 July 2026 for 170 Barratt & David Wilson Homes Mercia colleagues, giving conference attendees a high-energy, competitive break built directly around their venue. Feedback from Andrea afterwards was glowing:
We had a fantastic time, thanks for helping to organise such a fun event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it - my team didn’t win unfortunately!
— Andrea Marston, Marketing Manager, Barratt & David Wilson Homes Mercia
Andrea also left Wildgoose a 5-star review on Trustpilot:
Wildgoose recently arranged our bespoke team building event at West Midlands Safari Park. From the off, comms from Jonny and his team were great and we had no worries about everything running smoothly. As expected, on the day, everything went perfectly. Our remote host was on time, informative and great fun. He was humorous with his commentary on the video playbacks and helped make the event a great success. Would 100% use Wildgoose again for our future events. Thanks to Jonny and the team for all your help.
— Andrea, Trustpilot review, 2 July 2026
Why It Worked
- A flexible route around the Tree Top Pavilions let the group combine indoor conferencing with an outdoor activity, without a long walk between the two
- The remote host model kept costs down while still delivering a professionally briefed and wrapped-up event
- Invoice billing and a simple online proposal made it easy for Andrea to get sign-off from her MD and route payment through her accounts team
- Wildgoose’s existing relationship with other Barratt Redrow divisions gave Andrea confidence in the booking from the outset
