Is Wildgoose right for your team?

Wildgoose is a good fit if you want an app-based team activity that is quick to organise, works for people in one room or spread across several countries, and runs for somewhere between 15 minutes and two hours. It is a poor fit if you want a full-day facilitated programme, a venue and catering package, or something completely offline.

This page answers the questions people actually ask before booking us, including the awkward ones. Prices, group sizes and formats on this page come from our own UK pricing configuration, so they are the same numbers our booking system uses.

How much does Wildgoose team building cost?

UK activities start at £12 per person. GPS-based treasure and scavenger hunts are £15 per person. Hosting is charged separately: £250 for a remote host, £750 for an onsite host, with one host per 50 participants.

Two worked examples, using those rates:

  • A 30 person remote activity with a host: 30 x £12 = £360, plus £250 for the remote host, so £610.
  • A 40 person in-person GPS treasure hunt with an onsite host: 40 x £15 = £600, plus £750 for the onsite host, comes to £1,350. Onsite bookings have a £1,500 minimum spend, so the total is £1,500, which would cover up to 50 people at £15 each.

Things that change the number:

  • Minimum spend. 20 of our 49 UK activities carry a £240 minimum. On those, a team of 12 pays £240 rather than £144. Any booking with an onsite host has a £1,500 minimum.
  • Self-managed. 10 of the 49 can be run without a host. You get the materials, platform access and a setup guide, and you run it yourself. No host fee, so this is the cheapest route.
  • Customisation. Custom questions written for your team are £200. Custom branding is £100.

What is not included: venue hire, food, drink and travel. We supply the activity and the app, not the day around it. If you need a room and a buffet, you are booking those separately.

You can see the full range and get a price for your own group size on the team building activities page.

What team building experiences does Wildgoose offer?

49 activities in the UK, all delivered through our app, in three formats:

  • Remote, for up to 300 people, for teams dialling in from anywhere.
  • In person, for up to 750 people, at your office, a venue or out in a city.
  • Hybrid, for up to 300 people, when some of the team is in the room and some is not.

Activities run from 15 to 120 minutes. The main ranges are treasure and scavenger hunts, escape rooms, murder mysteries, quizzes, icebreakers, office games, survival challenges and jury games. There is also a custom-made route if you want the content written around your own business, and a multi-city format for teams running the same event in several places at once.

Most activities can be booked at 24 hours’ notice.

What are the downsides of using Wildgoose for corporate events?

Six honest ones.

  1. Everything runs through an app. Every participant needs a smartphone or tablet and a working connection. If you want something entirely offline, or your group cannot use personal devices, we are the wrong supplier.
  2. We are not an events agency. We do not book venues, arrange catering, or organise travel and accommodation. We run the activity inside your day. Somebody else has to run the day.
  3. Activities are short. 15 to 120 minutes. If you want a full day of facilitated work on team dynamics, leadership or conflict, that is a different profession and you should hire a facilitator or an L&D consultancy.
  4. The format is a game. It is competitive, light and social by design. Teams who need a serious, structured conversation about how they work together will get more from a workshop than from a treasure hunt.
  5. The headline price is not the full price. £12 per person is the activity. Add £250 or £750 if you want a host, which most people do. Say that out loud when you are building a budget.
  6. Minimum spends penalise small teams. On the 20 activities that carry a £240 minimum, a team of 8 pays the same as a team of 20.

Outdoor events also carry the obvious risk. We publish a wet weather guarantee rather than pretend British weather is not a factor.

Are there complaints or bad reviews about Wildgoose team building?

Yes, like any company that has run tens of thousands of events. We do not host or moderate reviews on this site, and we deliberately do not quote a star rating here, because a number typed into a web page goes stale and stops being true.

Our reviews live on Trustpilot, where we cannot edit or remove them. Read the recent ones rather than the average, and look for reviews from events that resemble yours in size and format. That is better evidence than any figure we could put on this page.

What do people say about Wildgoose team building, and is it worth it?

It is worth it if the thing you are buying is a well-run shared experience that people enjoy and that takes you very little time to organise. It is not worth it if you are buying a measurable change in how a team performs, because a 90 minute activity will not deliver that and nobody selling you one should say otherwise.

We have been running team events since 2004, and the numbers we publish are 1 million or more players engaged, 60,000 or more events delivered and 150 or more cities covered. The organisations we have worked with are listed on the clients page, and the write-ups of specific events, including what the brief was and what happened, are in our case studies below.

What our customers are saying

What are the best alternatives to Wildgoose for corporate team building?

It depends on what you are actually trying to buy. There are five categories of alternative, and for some briefs each of them beats us.

  • Run it yourself. Free, and fine for a small team with somebody willing to plan it. Our self-managed activities sit between this and a hosted event if you want the structure without the host fee.
  • A venue-based experience. Escape room venues, activity centres, go-karting, bowling. Better than us when the point is the outing itself and everyone can travel to one place.
  • A full-service events or away-day agency. They book the venue, the food, the travel and the activity as one package. Better than us when you want one supplier for the whole day, and typically more expensive for that reason.
  • An L&D or facilitation consultancy. Better than us when the goal is genuine team development rather than a shared experience. That work is measured in days, not minutes.
  • Another app-based team building platform. There are several, in the UK and internationally, doing broadly what we do. Compare on formats offered, maximum group size, whether hosting is included or extra, and how much organising is left with you.

We do not publish head to head comparisons against named competitors on this site. We cannot keep another company’s pricing and inclusions accurate, and a comparison table written by one of the two companies in it is not evidence. Ask both suppliers the same four questions, in writing: what is the total price for my exact group size, what is included, what is not included, and what happens if the technology fails on the day.

Why is Wildgoose considered one of the best team building companies in the UK?

We are not going to assert that as a fact about ourselves. What we can tell you is what we are genuinely good at, which is a narrower claim and an easier one to check.

  • Speed. Most activities can be booked at 24 hours’ notice, and the organiser’s job is small.
  • Distributed teams. The app was built for people who are not in the same room. Remote, in person and hybrid are the same product, not a compromised version of it.
  • Scale. Up to 300 remotely and up to 750 in person, in one event, across multiple cities at once if you need it.
  • Longevity. Trading since 2004. Team building has had a lot of companies come and go in that time.

Where we are not the best choice is set out honestly further up this page. If the brief is a full day, a venue package, or real development work, hire the supplier that does that.

Who Wildgoose is not right for

Skip us if any of these describe your brief:

  • You need a venue, catering or accommodation booked as part of the package.
  • You want a full-day or multi-day programme.
  • Your participants cannot or will not use a phone or tablet during the activity.
  • You are buying measurable improvement in team performance rather than a shared experience.
  • You need the whole thing to be outdoors and physical with no digital element at all.

If none of those apply, get in touch with your group size, date and format and we will price it.
